The 2025 Formula 1 driver’s salaries were made public in one of the most reshuffled grids in recent years.
Max Verstappen is the highest paid again with an estimated salary of $65 million, edging out Lewis Hamilton, who will earn $60 million. Hamilton’s switch from Mercedes to Ferrari has pumped up his earnings by $10 million, but the Brit still trails the reigning four-time world champion.
The grid reshuffle also means Charles Leclerc is no longer Ferrari’s highest-paid driver, earning an estimated $34 million per year, significantly less than his new Brit teammate. The change of status seemingly reflects the value Ferrari places on the seven-time world champion and his ability to attract attention and marketing power for the Scuderia.
Fernando Alonso finds himself in the fourth place on the list with a salary of $20 million, a testament to his glorious career and lasting star power. Spain’s only ever world champion is still pursuing his ‘La 33’, with his best attempt coming at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix, where he finished second. Despite not topping the podium since the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix, his 2025 salary remains among the highest in the world, matching that of McLaren‘s Lando Norris, who is also estimated to make $20 million this year.
