A total of 46 players, which include Cameron Green, Liam Livingstone, Ravi Bishnoi, Venkatesh Iyer, Matheesha Pathirana and Wanindu Hasaranga, have listed at the maximum reserve price of INR 2 crore for the IPL 2026 auction.
The long list featuring 1,355 registered players was shared by the IPL with all ten franchises after the registration closed on November 30. There are only 77 total slots available across teams, including 31 overseas positions, so competition for top tier signings will be fierce.
IPL 2026 Auction Process and Key Dates
Having taken in all franchises’ wishlists, the IPL will now shorten the long list of overseas players.
Shortlist deadline: December 5
Auction date: December 16
Venue: Abu Dhabi
With teams allowed a maximum squad size of 25, the franchises will be tactical in making the final selections.
Cameron Green Set for Major Bidding War
The spotlight is likely to fall on Australia’s allrounder, Cameron Green, who missed the 2025 mega-auction owing to a back injury. Now fully fit, Green features among the most-in-demand names.
With that in mind, two franchises stand out as leading contenders:
Kolkata Knight Riders (₹64.3 crore purse)
Chennai Super Kings (₹43.4 crore purse)
Both the sides have strong budgets and overseas slots available. Green, being an all-rounder, becomes an ideal replacement for KKR, who recently bid adieu to Andre Russell after announcing his retirement from the IPL; he offers middle-order stability, seam bowling, and sharp fielding.
Team Situations Driving High Interest in Cameron Green
KKR have let go of nine players including Venkatesh Iyer, who they had bought for ₹23.5 crore last year, freeing 12 slots, six of which are overseas.
CSK, who possess the second-biggest purse, have nine vacancies, including four overseas slots, which will make them yet another formidable bidder for Green.
Big-Name Releases Entering the 2 Crore Bracket
A number of well-known players released ahead of the auction have listed themselves at the highest base price, including:
Matheesha Pathirana: Previously retained by CSK for ₹13 crore; released due to recurring injuries.
Liam Livingstone: RCB paid ₹8.75 crore for him, only to release him after a mediocre season.
Venkatesh Iyer: Bought for ₹23.75 crore at the last mega auction and back in the pool.
Ravi Bishnoi: Released by LSG despite being retained last year for ₹11 crore due to declining performance.
Notable absentee: Glenn Maxwell
One of the big omissions on the long list is Glenn Maxwell. Although he was bought by Punjab Kings for ₹4.2 crore last year, the veteran Australian suffered a fractured finger mid-season and was replaced by Mitchell Owen, who PBKS have opted to retain.
Josh Inglis Back in the Auction Pool
A major return to the auction pool is that of Josh Inglis. Inglis played a key part in PBKS’s progress to the 2025 final but reportedly couldn’t commit to the entire 2026 season because of personal reasons. The IPL has told franchises that his availability for 2026 will be only 25%, which cuts down his draft worth but keeps him in the fray.
