Man United gaffer wants Cavani to stay at Old Trafford

Cavani scored a brace against Roma in the 1st leg of semi-Finals in the Europa League

Cavani has been scoring goals for the Red Devils in the most crucial of matches. Ole wants the Uruguayan to stay at the club for at least another year.

Edinson Cavani’s brace against Roma in the 1st leg semi-final of Europa League inspired the team to win the match 6-2. The Red Devils were behind 2-1 in the first half. In the 2nd half they changed their tactics, played aggressive football and scored 5 more to finish the match at 6-2. Cavani and Fernandes scored a brace each, while Pogba and Greenwood got on the scoresheet as well.

With this score-line United are almost guaranteed a spot in the Final of Europa League. United’s gaffer Ole Gunner Solskjaer was delighted with his team’s performance and said:” We want to go through, of course, good reaction at half-time. I thought we played some good stuff in the first half as well but we forgot you have to run back as well and you have to run back quick. The second half we did that part better and of course that creates more opportunities to attack.”

Solskjaer was particularly happy with the Uruguayan’s performance. Ole on Cavani’s performance said:”Edinson was excellent. I’ve said before, he plays as a centre-forward should be playing, running the channels, being the focal points, creating chances for others, scoring goals. I’m absolutely delighted with him. You can see the difference in him, he’s worked up his fitness having had a long lay-off. He’s making up for lost time.”

He also added:” He is more than a goal poacher, he’s a very good goal scorer. He’s played football for so long; he has a calmness and composure about him.”

Regardless of his good performances for United lately, his future at Old Trafford remains in doubt. Ole wants the player to stay and is trying his best to make sure of that. Ole when asked about Cavani’s future, said:” He knows my feelings, he knows that I would love to have him for another year, we have spoken about it. I understand this year has been very difficult, but I promised him that Old Trafford and Manchester is a different place with fans in the stadium.”

He also said:” I’m doing my best, nights like this [help], hopefully we can get to the final and hopefully he can see himself being here for another year. We don’t have to sell the club to him. It’s about the feeling he gets coming into training every day, the environment we created, the team we are creating that he is a part of. We’ve got the best fans and, as a goal scorer, there is no better feeling than scoring and celebrating in front of them.”
