Manchester City are backing away from the race to sign Florian Wirtz
But after conversations with Wirtz’s club, Bayer Leverkusen, and his representatives in Manchester last week, City are turning their attention to other targets.
A source has told ESPN that club bosses believe the finances that would be involved are not workable and that Wirtz is destined for a summer move to Bayern Munich.

City have other options to strengthen their midfield including Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.
Florian Wirtz has been sensational this year
Florian Wirtz has been sensational this year and is looking for a new home. After being in contact with Manchester City, he has now turned his head towards Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Liverpool.
While Bayern looks favorable to bring the player in as he is German and they are the only team who can actually afford his transfer fee and wages. Bayern Munich will be looking to get him safely to Allianz Arena as he is one of the most highly rated attacking midfielders in the world.
Midfield partnership with Jamal Musiala at Bayern Munich
He will be forming his midfield partnership with Jamal Musiala at Bayern Munich that usually runs the German midfield and will become an important player for them if they want to compete in their Champions league next year.

Real Madrid will also be looking at the German and there would be a temptation to help him reunite with his former manager and help him unleash the destruction that they had caused in the Bundesliga.
The only problem will be the transfer fee as it looks difficult that Real Madrid will splurge so much money on a midfielder as they already have the position stacked. Now it looks likely that Liverpool will be looking to get the services of the Bayer Leverkusen no.10.
