Marsch confirmed as new RB Leipzig manager as Nagelsmann leaves for Bayern next season
Marsch would be the head coach of RB Leipzig from 2021-2022 season
Marsch has coached RB New York and RB Salzburg before RB Leipzig. Marsch would be replacing Julian Nagelsmann as the latter departs for Bayern Munich next season.
Jesse Marsch has been appointed as the new manager for RB Leipzig following the departure of Julian Nagelsmann to Bayern Munich. Jesse Marsch has previously coached RB New York and RB Salzburg before coming to Bayern. USMNT international, won the Austrian league and cup double in the 2019-20 campaign and is well placed to do the same in 2020-21. He also became the first American to coach in the group stage of the Champions League, with Salzburg competing in the last two seasons.
Nagelsmann will be leaving RB Leipzig after the current season. He had huge success with the club. The 33-year-old lead the club to the semi-finals of the Champions League and finished second in Bundesliga just behind Bayern Munich.
RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff on the appointment of the new coach said: “With Jesse Marsch we were able to sign our dream candidate as the new head coach and quickly fill the most important position in the sporting field with a top coach. Jesse has done an excellent job in all of his previous positions and has developed step by step. It is naturally a great advantage that he has already worked for RB Leipzig for a year.”
