With the February 5 NBA trade deadline getting closer, a bold trade idea has started making waves. NBA insider Brett Siegel recently shared a five-team trade proposal that includes several big names like Anthony Davis, Trae Young, and Jonathan Kuminga.
The proposed deal involves the Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, and Brooklyn Nets. While this trade is only a suggestion and not based on confirmed talks, it tries to connect several rumors currently floating around the league.
Massive Five-Team NBA Trade Idea Before Deadline
Anthony Davis Trade Talks Pick Up
According to Siegel, the Mavericks are open to discussing a possible trade involving Anthony Davis. One team reportedly showing interest is the Atlanta Hawks.
Atlanta could offer young talent, including 2024 number one pick Zaccharie Risacher, as part of a larger package. In Siegel’s idea, Davis would move to Atlanta and team up with Zach LaVine and D’Angelo Russell, giving the Hawks a strong star trio.
Breakdown of the Proposed Five-Team Trade
In this scenario, Dallas would receive Risacher, Domantas Sabonis, Luke Kennard, and three first-round draft picks. This return gives the Mavericks both young talent and future assets.
Brooklyn would land Moses Moody, Buddy Hield, Trayce Jackson-Davis, and two first-round picks, helping them build depth and draft flexibility.
Golden State would bring back Klay Thompson and also add Nic Claxton, Keon Ellis, and a second-round pick.
The Kings would receive a major shakeup by adding Kristaps Porzingis, Trae Young, and Jonathan Kuminga.
Again, Siegel made it clear that this trade is hypothetical and not linked to confirmed negotiations.
Warriors Expected to Move Jonathan Kuminga
Separate from the big trade idea, Siegel also reported that the Warriors are actively working to trade Jonathan Kuminga before the deadline. Kuminga becomes trade-eligible on January 15, and multiple options are already being explored.
The Kings are said to have interest in Kuminga, dating back to last season. The 23-year-old forward started the season as Golden State’s starting power forward but has since fallen out of the regular rotation.
Despite being healthy, Kuminga played in only four games during December. In 18 games this season, he is averaging 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. His shooting numbers have dipped, including a career-low shooting percentage and reduced three-point accuracy.
