Manchester United Verbally Agree Deal to Sign Matheus Cunha From Wolves

Manchester United have agreed a five-year contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Cunha looks set to leave Wolves this summer after an impressive season in the Premier League. Despite Vitor Pereira’s side struggling near the bottom of the table, the Brazil international has stood out, contributing significantly in the final third for the Wanderers.

He has scored 15 goals and 6 assists in 33 matches for a struggling Wolves side. He has been their main creator and finisher in times of need. There have been games where he has dropped deep into the midfield and helped build up play against strong teams. 

United are likely to be in the market for a host of reinforcements when the transfer window opens after a disastrous campaign. Not only did Ruben Amorim’s side finish in the bottom half of the league, they also lost the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur.

He has scored 15 goals and 6 assists in 33 matches for a struggling Wolves side.

Reporting on X, Ben Jacobs has confirmed that Cunha has agreed a five-year deal with Manchester United, and the Red Devils will now approach Wolves. The Brazilian is expected to wear the number 10 shirt at Old Trafford, while he will start on July 1st.

Although Wolves’ have struggled this season, finishing below United in 16th, Cunha has been their stand out performer. 

But the campaign hasn’t been free of drama.

Cunha, who moved to Wolves two years ago, was hit by a four-match ban after headbutting and kicking Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez. He was also slapped with a £50,000 fine for the red card during their clash with the Cherries in the FA Cup.

The Brazil international was handed another two-match ban and an £80,000 fine after appearing to elbow and remove the glasses of an Ipswich staff member.  Next season will be the first time in 11 years that Manchester United will not be involved in any European competition.
