The National Basketball Association (NBA) is one of the professional basketball league in USA and Canada. It is based in North America. It constitutes of 30 teams divided into two conferences: 

  • Eastern Conference 
  • Western Conference.

Each conference is divided into three divisions. Central Division, Southeast Division, Atlantic Division are the divisions of Eastern Conference. One of the five southeast divisions of Eastern Conference is Miami Heat. It is based in Miami, Florida.

Miami Heat, an American basketball team based in Miami plays as Southeast Division of Eastern Conference of NBA.

Miami Heat

Miami was granted expansion team in 1987. The team came to be known as Miami Heat. This team originated in 1988-89 as an expansion team.  Pat Riley, an American basketball player became team president and head coach in mid 1990’s. It was then the team gained relevance. The Heat improved to a 61–21 record in 1996-97 season. Miami was also honored the moniker of “Road Warriors” in the same year. Before the start of 2003-04 season, Stan Van Gundy  was assigned the place of head coach. It was in 2006 when Heat was lead by Wade and won their first NBA title in 2006. Heat signed NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2010. Under leadership of Spoelstra, James, Wade, and Bosh, the team won back-to-back championships in 2012 & 2013. In 2012–13 season, heat gained the record for third longest winning streak. 

After departure of these members in 2016, team started rebuilding. The team entered into NBA again and acquired NBA All-star Jimmy Butler in 2020. In 2021, Heat acquired Kyle Lowry who is a six-time NBA All-star.
