14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history in IPL 2025 by becoming the youngest player to play in the tournament. He made a strong debut with the Rajasthan Royals, hitting a six off the very first ball he faced.
The young player’s aggressive batting surprised everyone as he scored 34 runs off just 20 balls in his first match. He quickly became the talk of the town. In his second match, he scored 16 runs off 12 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore, but his powerful and fearless style of play impressed both fans and experts.
Fans and cricket experts are amazed by the young talent, power, and ability of Vaibhav Suryavanshi to clear boundaries so easily at such a young age in the competitive IPL. Former England captain Michael Vaughan has even said that India has already found a future superstar in Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Michael Vaughan, the former England captain, predicted that Vaibhav Suryavanshi could dominate the cricket world in the future. He recalled Suryavanshi’s impressive 58-ball 100 against Australia in Under-19 cricket and was amazed by the teenager’s power and clean hitting, saying he never managed to hit shots like that even at his best.
On the Club Prairie Fire podcast, Vaughan said, “He’s obviously been mentioned for a while now. He’s going to be around for a long time, isn’t he? I’d love to know what the feed is in him. He’s a big lad. He’s strong. That first ball went over extra cover for six. I wasn’t hitting sixes when I was in my prime at 25. He’s scrolling out there and striking him into the stands as a 14-year-old.”
Vaughan also mentioned that the real challenge for Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be dealing with the huge attention and expectations now on him. He hopes the youngster will receive the right guidance and support. With the right help, Vaughan believes Suryavanshi could become one of India’s biggest cricket stars.
