The next big update for Minecraft, called The Copper Age, is set to bring many exciting features later this year. This update will focus on copper as a main theme, introducing new mobs, weapons, armor, and decorations. It will also fix common bugs and make the game smoother for players.

Here’s a complete guide to what’s coming in Minecraft: The Copper Age update.

The Copper Golem Joins Minecraft

The main highlight of this update is the Copper Golem, a brand-new mob. Unlike the Iron Golem, which protects villages, the Copper Golem will help players organize items. You can place things into a copper chest, and the golem will neatly arrange them in nearby storage chests.

Alongside the mob, Mojang is also adding the Copper Golem Statue. This oxidized version has four different poses and can be used both for decoration and redstone builds. Each pose gives out a different redstone signal, which makes it useful for puzzles, traps, and creative mechanisms.

Copper Weapons and Armor

For the first time, players will be able to craft copper-based weapons and armor. These include:

  • Copper Sword (stronger than stone, weaker than iron)
  • Copper Helmet
  • Copper Chestplate
  • Copper Leggings
  • Copper Boots

This gear is not as powerful as iron or diamond but offers a great stepping stone between stone and higher-tier equipment. Since copper is easier to find, this makes survival easier in the early game.

Copper Tools for Better Mining

The update will also add a full set of copper tools:

  • Copper Pickaxe
  • Copper Axe
  • Copper Shovel
  • Copper Hoe

These tools will last longer than stone ones and make progression smoother for new players before they move on to iron.

New Copper Decorations

Builders will love this update because it introduces many copper decorations. Players can use copper to craft:

  • Copper Torches
  • Copper Lanterns
  • Copper Chains
  • Copper Bars

With copper blocks oxidizing into different shades, these decorations open up more creative possibilities for designing unique bases and structures.

Shelves: A New Storage Block

Another big feature is the addition of shelves. These blocks allow you to stack and store items vertically, saving space and keeping your base more organized. Shelves can even be powered with redstone, letting you swap entire stacks of items with one click. This makes them useful for automatic farms and storage systems.

Visual and UI Improvements

The Copper Age update isn’t just about new items. It will also bring visual and user interface upgrades. Some of the changes include:

  • Improved Vibrant Visuals for smoother performance.
  • Better dye icons to help players easily identify colors.
  • A new End Sky effect in the Java Edition, which will glow purple at times and play unique sounds.

These changes will make the game look more polished and immersive.

Bug Fixes and Performance Tweaks

As with every major update, Mojang will also address bugs and long-standing issues. Players can expect smoother gameplay, better mechanics, and a customizable debug screen to track performance more easily.
