MIW vs DCW WPL 2025: In the 2nd match encounter between Mumbai India Women (MIW) vs Delhi Capitals Women, MIW set a target of 165 runs for DCW, Nat Sciver-Brunt played a remarkable knock and remained unbeaten at 80. But Delhi successfully chased down the target with neck-to-neck competition.

The third edition of the Women’s Premier League has begun. On Saturday, the second match of this tournament was played between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. In this nail-biting match, Delhi made a great start to its campaign by snatching victory from Harmanpreet Kaur’s army on the last ball. In this match played at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, Mumbai scored 164 runs for 10 wickets in 19.1 overs. In reply, Delhi scored 165 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs and won the match by two wickets.

After losing the toss, DCW chose to ball first, and MIW played the first inning with an initial struggle and a shaky start. DCW’s Shikha Pandey claimed the early wicket of opener Hayley Matthews and sent her back to the pavilion without even scoring. The early pressure built by the DCW bowling attack saw Mumbai struggling at 32/2 by the 5th over. However, Nat Sciver-Brunt and captain Harmanpreet Kaur helped the Mumbai team to stable with a crucial partnership.

The beginning was not good for the Mumbai Indians Women’s team. Shikha Pandey delivered a brilliant first over to out Hayley Matthews for a duck and it is the first duck o of the WPL 2025 season. MIW’s Yastika Bhatia followed her soon after but failed to showcase herself in front of Pandey’s clever bowling and got out for just 11 runs in 9 balls. The early wickets left Mumbai in urgent need of a revival at 32/2 by the 5th over.

MIW Captain Harmanpreet Kaur took charge with Nat Sciver-Brunt and formed a steady partnership. Harmanpreet was in fine form and scored 42 off 22 balls with four boundaries and three massive sixes. The duo built a 73-run partnership together and pushed Mumbai to the 100-run mark by the 12th over.

Nat Sciver-Brunt’s composed batting, alongside Harmanpreet’s aggressive approach, allowed Mumbai to regain the match in their hand after the early setbacks. Sciver-Brunt played a great inning with total control and precision and hit nine boundaries. But suddenly Harmanpreet got caught by Neha Prasad on Annabel Sutherland’s ball after scoring 42 runs in 22 balls with three sixes and 4 boundaries, but on the other hand, Sciver-Brunt continued to lead the charge for the Mumbai Indians Women’s team.

With Amelia Kerr and lower-order batters MIW failing to set a tough target for the DCW, Mumbai lost wickets at regular intervals. But Sciver-Brunt held her ground till the end, finishing unbeaten at 80* off 51 balls, helping the team to set a competitive total of 164/10 in 20 overs.

Delhi’s Bowling Attack Restrains Mumbai

Delhi’s bowlers, particularly Shikha Pandey and Annabel Sutherland, were the standout performers in this MIB vs DCW WPL 2025 second match. Pandey started to dominate the field with her balling from very early and provided the two crucial wickets to the DCW team. Sutherland also did the same and took three wickets of MIW and broke the important partnership between Harmanpreet and Sciver-Brunt. Delhi’s spinners Minnu Mani and Alice Capsey, also took one wicket each ensuring that Mumbai didn’t get away with an even higher total.

By the end of the MIW vs DCW, WPL 2025 second match Mumbai had managed a set score of 165 for the opponent, with a powerpack performance from Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur.
