Mohammad Rizwan’s Practice Session Leads to Viral Moment

On Friday, March 21, the Pakistan cricket team made history by successfully chasing down 205 runs in the third T20I against New Zealand in Auckland. After losing the first two matches, they made an impressive comeback, winning the game by nine wickets and keeping their hopes alive in the ongoing five-match T20I series at Eden Park.

Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam were left out of the first three T20Is as Pakistan stuck with the new opening pair, Mohammad Haris and Hassan Nawaz, for the series against New Zealand.

After Pakistan’s exciting win in the third T20I, a video went viral showing Rizwan practicing his batting skills. Meanwhile, Naseem Shah was caught just watching the practice and paid the price for it.

During a practice session, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Rizwan hit a lofted shot off a fast bowler, and it landed right in the area where players and supporters were sitting with their bags. Unfortunately, Naseem Shah had his mobile phone in his bag, and the shot shattered his phone.

Naseem wasn’t happy when he found his broken phone in his bag, and he even signaled to Rizwan, looking dejected. The moment has since gone viral on social media.

Former Pakistan fast bowler Sikander Bakht strongly criticized Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan for skipping the National T20 Cup. Despite being left out of Pakistan’s T20I squad for the ongoing series against New Zealand after the team’s poor performance in the 2025 Champions Trophy, they chose not to play in the domestic competition.

Their decision faced severe backlash, with Bakht urging PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi to take strong action against the senior players. He even suggested canceling their central contracts because they opted not to participate in the PCB’s top tournament.

Sikander Bakht was quoted as saying by Geo Super, “They are employees of the Pakistan Cricket Board. They get 60 lakh per month, so they must play in the tournaments the PCB is organizing. The buck stops with PCB. They have to make sure that players are available.”

If you are playing club cricket and not playing in the tournament the board has organized, it means you are insulting the PCB. This shouldn’t happen. Mohsin Naqvi needs to be strict. He comes off as a polite person, but he needs to change his ways. You have to ask what is happening. Be strict. Stop their central contracts.”
