The Board of Control for Cricket in India has confirmed that star India pacer Mohammed Siraj has been rested for the upcoming T20I tours to Ireland and England. The decision was taken by the board keeping Siraj’s workload management in mind, ahead of an intense schedule for the national side. Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna has been picked in place of Mohammed Siraj in the 15-man squad for both tours.

“Following discussions between the BCCI Medical Team and the team management, Siraj has been advised a period of rest as part of his workload management programme,” the BCCI said in a statement. “The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure adequate recovery ahead of a long international season.”

Prasidh Krishna named as Mohammed Siraj’s replacement

“The Men’s Selection Committee has named Prasidh Krishna as Siraj’s replacement for both T20I series,” the statement added. Mohammed Siraj was picked up in the T20 World Cup 2026 squad as an injury replacement for Harshit Rana, where India emerged victorious.

In the recently concluded IPL 2026, Siraj featured in all 17 matches, representing the Gujarat Titans (GT). The 32-year-old picked 19 wickets in the tournament, while Prasidh Kishna played in 12 matches. Both Siraj and Krishna were part of the one-off Test against Afghanistan IN Mullanpur on Monday.

Prasidh Krishna, who made his debut for India in 2023, has played only five T20 games for the Men in Blue. The 30-year-old has picked up 8 wickets in his T20I career so far. Although Krishna had an impressive season in IPL 2025, he wasn’t part of the India squad that clinched the T20 World Cup 2026 trophy.

Shreyas Iyer appointed as India’s T20I captain

The Men in Blue are scheduled to take on Ireland on June 26 and 28, ahead of the England tour, where they will play five T20Is and three ODIs against the same opposition.

Meanwhile, there have been multiple changes in the Men’s T2Is squad. Shreyas Iyer replaced Suryakumar Yadav as the T20I skipper. 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who wreaked havoc in IPL 2026, has also received his maiden India call-up. The teenage sensation scored a total of 776 runs in 16 matches at an explosive strike rate of 237.30, which featured one hundred and six half-centuries.
