My opening combination would have KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma alongside him: Sunil Gavaskar

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has made a statement regarding India’s opening combination in the upcoming T20 World Cup. T20I World Cup will begin in October this year and all the teams have started preparing for it in their way.

Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar said he wants to see KL Rahul along with Rohit Sharma in the opening for the Indian cricket team in the T20 World Cup. The Indian team are currently in England for the 6th and final Test against England which got cancelled last year. The Indian players who are not in the Test squad will be playing two T20Is against Ireland. Hardik Pandya has been named captain for these two games against Ireland which will be played on 26th and 28th June respectively.

KL Rahul’s inclusion in the Indian team is in doubt as he is injured and currently having his treatment in Germany (as per official BCCI reports). Rahul had a great season of IPL with his new franchise i.e. Lucknow Super Giants and thus ex-cricketer Sunil Gavaskar feels Rohit and KL Rahul would be perfect in opening for India in World Cup.

“My opening combination would have KL Rahul if he’s fit and Rohit Sharma alongside him,” said Sunil Gavaskar via Star Sports Network.
