The much-anticipated 2024 Australian Open singles entry list has been unveiled, featuring a star-studded lineup with former champions Rafael Nadal and Naomi Osaka making their comeback at Melbourne Park in January. The entry is headlined by world No.1s Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek, promising an exciting tournament.
Defending champion Aryna Sabalenka ranked World No.2, is set to return and strive for another title, while Djokovic eyes a record-extending 11th Australian Open men’s singles victory at Melbourne Park.
Nadal, recovering from left hip surgery and utilizing a protected ranking of No.9, plans to mark his return at the Brisbane International after almost a year away from the court. Osaka, the 2019 winner, and Kerber, the 2016 titlist, are also making comebacks from maternity leave, entering the competition with special rankings of No.46 and No.31, respectively.
Among the women players, seven, including Jennifer Brady, Ajla Tomljanovic, Shelby Rogers, Amanda Anisimova, and Caty McNally, have secured direct entry into the main draw of the 2024 Australian Open using special rankings.
Notable absentees from the entry list include Australian Nick Kyrgios, recovering from knee and wrist injuries, and Emma Raducanu, the former US Open champion, set to make her return at Auckland before the Grand Slam event.
As the Australian Open unfolds from January 14 to 28, all eyes will be on Aryna Sabalenka defending the women’s title and Djokovic aiming for another triumph in the men’s category.
