"Need A break..”Prithvi Shaw Shared A Cryptic Story Ahead Of IPL 2025 Resumption
Prithvi Shaw, once seen as the next big star in Indian cricket, is now working hard to return to form. He last played in December during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Since then, he’s stayed away from the spotlight until now. Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 restart, Shaw posted a short, emotional message on Instagram saying he “needs a break.”
This post has sparked talks among fans and experts what’s going wrong with Prithvi Shaw? And more importantly, can he make a strong comeback?
The IPL was briefly paused due to political tensions between India and Pakistan. But with a ceasefire in place, the league will now restart on May 17. While fans are excited, Shaw remains on the outside. He had entered the mega auction this year with a base price of ₹75 lakh but wasn’t picked by any team.
This was surprising, especially for a player who once scored a century on his Test debut and dominated U-19 cricket.
In the past couple of years, Shaw’s performance has dropped. His poor run with the bat and repeated fitness concerns led to him being dropped from the Mumbai team. Even in his last outing during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024, he failed to impress.
People close to him say it’s not just about skill. It’s about discipline.
Punjab Kings’ player Shashank Singh, who has known Shaw since childhood, spoke openly about what Shaw might need to fix. Speaking on the Shubhankar Mishra podcast, Shashank said:
“Prithvi Shaw is underrated. He has talent. But maybe he needs to go back to basics.”
Shashank explained that simple changes could make a big difference. Things like sleeping earlier, eating better, and improving his daily routine.
“If he sleeps at 10 instead of 11, changes his diet, and accepts the changes he needs to make, he can do wonders for Indian cricket,” Shashank added.
This shows that Shaw has support. But the next step is his to take.
