New Teams in IPL 2022: Predicted Retentions for Lucknow and Ahmedabad
As we look at the expected player retention for the Lucknow and Ahmedabad-based new teams for IPL 2022, KL Rahul is the hot favorite.
Since the existing eight teams announced their retained players list for IPL 2022, the spotlight has switched to the two new franchises, who will announce a list of three players they want to keep. The deadline for new franchisees to share their list after conversations with possible players has been established for December.
To summarize the rules, new clubs are allowed to keep a maximum of three players, with a maximum of two Indians and one international player.
The players’ salaries will be divided into three categories: INR 15 crores, INR 11 crores, and INR 7 crores. Players may, however, have the opportunity to negotiate greater compensation.
Let’s have a look at the revised team retention predictions for the IPL 2022 season.
6. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer was one of the high-profile players who the Delhi Capitals did not keep. While there’s no reason why Delhi shouldn’t keep Iyer, the decision was made by Iyer himself, who was searching for a leadership role in the franchise. Franchises situated in Lucknow and Ahmedabad would both be looking for a franchise leader. Iyer was not only a successful leader of the Delhi Capitals, but he was also essential in the team’s development from the ground up. As far as I can tell, new teams should have no problem giving Shreyas Iyer INR 15 Cr or 11 Cr.
5. Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan, one of the most consistent batsman in the IPL over the last two years, was another player who was unexpectedly released by Delhi Capitals. His age and demand for a better income come up again as reasons. While Dhawan isn’t a captaincy candidate, he is an incredibly valuable player. He’ll be able to play for another 2-3 years, therefore spending 11 or 7 crores on Dhawan is a good investment.
4. Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis, like Dhawan, has been one of the most consistent openers in the IPL over the last two years. Due to a lack of options, CSK traded their great opener for Moeen Ali, who was just as outstanding a player. Faf, who is also a future leader, could be one of the players to keep an eye on. In terms of remuneration, INR 7 Cr is a good deal.
3. Hardik Pandya
Probably the best all-rounder available in the pool of players to keep an eye on for new teams. Hardik, who has been a match-winner for the Mumbai Indians over the years, was not retained by the team due to a lack of options. Hardik would be compelled to contain an INR 8 Cr salary if he was retained. Second, if Hardik had been kept, MI would have lost Suryakumar Yadav, a potential leader.
Even though Hardik’s recent form has been inconsistent, he is still a match-winner. He’s only a couple of games away from resuming his previous form. Hardik has also started bowling, which makes him much more dangerous. Hardik would be pursued by franchises based in Ahmedabad and Lucknow. There’s a good probability he’ll be kept for INR 15 crore or INR 11 crore.
2. Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan, without a doubt the best spinner in the world right now, would be the second hottest property for new franchisees and in the auction. Rashid Khan struggled to negotiate a wage with SRH. Rashid Khan sought INR 14 Cr to be retained as the first-choice player, but when Kane was offered that option, Rashid Khan refused to accept INR 10 Cr.
Rashid may be retained for INR 15 crore or not at all, to be honest. Both new clubs may be without other options if Rashid is awarded 15 Cr. If Rashid is offered 11 crores, he may turn it down. To accept the retention, Rashid may require the new teams to match the INR 14 Cr salary. Rashid might end up in the auction pool if that doesn’t happen.
1. KL Rahul
KL Rahul’s franchisees in Ahmedabad and Lucknow will be negotiating furiously with him. According to unconfirmed “according to sources/reports news,” KL Rahul may demand a salary of INR 20 crore, which seems logical. It is self-evident that KL Rahul will want greater pay than any other player currently on the market.
So that concludes the latest team retention predictions for the IPL 2022 season. David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Shami, and Ishan Kishan are among the other players who could be retained by the new franchises.
