The Saudi Pro League has attracted some of the world’s best footballers. Neymar Jr. recently talked about the comparison between the Saudi Pro League and Ligue 1.
The star player for Al-Hilal, Neymar Jr., gave an explanation that the Saudi Pro League would be better than Ligue 1 in France. The talented forward completed his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Al-Hilal this summer. He was one of many well-known world-class footballers who had recently joined the affluent league. Along with Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte are also participating in the competition.

Before Brazil’s Friday (September 8) encounter against Bolivia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification round, Neymar discussed the Saudi Pro League at a press conference. Neymar said, “To those who try to belittle the Saudi League will start to follow it very soon. I tell them that Saudi is a strong league. Look at all the names Saudi has signed. Saudi might be better than Ligue 1.”
The Brazilian played six seasons in Ligue 1 with PSG before agreeing to a £78 million transfer to Al-Hilal this summer. The player is set to make his Riyadh-based club debut, but owing to injury. It could be difficult for players who have spent most of their careers in Europe to adjust to Saudi Arabia’s climate and culture.
Neymar asserted that he had not run into any issues, though. on his adaptation to Saudi Arabia following his relocation to Al-Hilal. The brilliant international superstar Neymar plays for Al-Hilal.
