NFL is one of the most prestigious football leagues in the world, played across the USA and Canada. Several teams compete in this league as National Football Conference (NFC). Minnesota Vikings are professional football teams in the USA competing in this tournament.
Jersey distinguishes one team from the other. Jersey is made based on the culture, the environment of the team, and some particular colours. The Minnesota Vikings team has a jersey that represents its heritage and culture. The Vikings take the field with their traditional horned helmet and purple-and-gold jersey. The jersey was designed by an examiner cartoonist from Los Angeles, Karl Hubenthal.
History
The inaugural jersey of the Minnesota Vikings has white and gold stripes in purple colour. Jersey numbers are designed in white colour and gold border. Most of the future uniforms have been made based on this specific jersey. Because of the rotation system of the league, an addition had been brought into the jersey. The home jersey had a simple design. The numbers were given in white. The previous gold and white stripes got discarded from this new jersey. It was the 50th anniversary of the NFL. On this occasion, the team added an official patch to the left shoulder part of the jersey.
About Uniform:
The whole jersey of the team contains a helmet, a pant, and a jersey. The helmet has a Viking logo on each side of it. The horn logo has a golden outline. It is a revised form of the original set of the helmet. This change was brought about in 2006. The pants are white, having a gold trim on them. On the jersey sleeves, the North-western stripe pattern in white with gold trim is the trademark of the Vikings jersey. The other uniform is white with stripes in purple and gold.
This year, the Vikings brought a change that has become the trend for each team in NFL, nowadays. They added a nameplate on the back of the jersey along with the jersey number. It was the 25th anniversary of the club. Vikings added a patch on the jersey but maintained the traditional look. It was the 75th anniversary of the league. The Vikings added a diamond-shaped patch on the jersey showing respect to the league. Vikings added the Norseman head logo design on either sleeve of the jersey. Following the tradition, Vikings added another patch to mark the 40th anniversary of the club.
A change in the team’s home uniform came in 2006. On both sides of the jersey, a white stripe is designed with a golden outline. The team’s name was given above the jersey number plate. A change was made in the design of the pant too. A stripe is designed for the pants along with the Norseman logo. It was the 50th anniversary. To mark this occasion, the authority added a Viking ship patch to the chest – that commemorates Minnesota natives with deep Scandinavian roots. This year, the Vikings collaborated with Nike for the whole league, and a new jersey was launched by the Vikings, maintaining their traditional look. The collar and pant stripes were modified a bit.
Jersey
The jersey was given a modern look in 2013. The white side stripes were updated, with a bar of thin gold and white stripes at the bottom of the jersey sleeves. But the design of the pant became simpler. The details were removed, with simple purple and gold-coloured full-length stripes. Vikings always kept their uniform simple in design. Though they tried to change the jerseys over the years, it remains an old-school look. Over the years, Vikings tried to maintain their tradition with their simple purple jersey.
