NZ vs BAN: Trent Boult, Guptill helps New Zealand for an eight-wicket win against Bangladesh
Trent Boult and Martin Guptill powered New Zealand to an emphatic win of eight-wicket over Bangladesh in the opening of the One Day International match which took place in Dunedin on Saturday.
Trent Boult with his amazing performance moving balls both ways, New Zealand defeated Bangladesh for a mediocre 131 with more than 28 overs. The early finish was set up by a blistering start from the opener Guptill who blazed away for 38 off 19 deliveries.
Except for the two, all of his 38 runs came with four sixes and three fours, after which Taskin Ahmed and the wicketkeeper Mushfiqur took the hold and dismissed.
“We haven’t played for a while and it was setting the tone, winning the toss and bowling and I thought Trent and Matt Henry did that great, and for us to chase 130 in 20-odd overs was awesome,” the New Zealand captain Tom Latham said.
Talking about Guptill, he continued “And we know how destructive he can be when he plays like that, and to break the back of the chase was awesome and for the guys to finish it off then was a pretty clinical performance all around.”
Devon Conway in his maiden ODI fell for 27 while opener Henry Nicholas was left 49 not out.
