World Test Championship 2025: The ICC has announced the match officials for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 Final between Australia and South Africa, set to be played on June 11 at Lord’s.

Experienced Officials Named for World Test Championship 2025 Final

England’s Richard Illingworth and New Zealand’s Chris Gaffaney will be the on-field umpires for the big match.

Defending champions Australia will take on South Africa in what will be the third edition of the WTC Final.

India’s Javagal Srinath has been named as the match referee, while Nitin Menon will be the fourth umpire. England’s Richard Kettleborough will be the third umpire for the game. He has plenty of experience and also officiated the Champions Trophy final.

Jay Shah, in an ICC statement, said:

“We are pleased to announce an experienced team of match officials for the World Test Championship Final at Lord’s, marking the culmination of a highly competitive two-year cycle of Test matches played around the world.”

He added: “We strive to select the most qualified and deserving officials for all matches, and we are confident they will perform admirably. On behalf of the ICC, I wish them all the best and hope they enjoy this assignment.”

Richard Illingworth and Chris Gaffaney, who have officiated major finals together before, will be the on-field umpires for the WTC 2025 final. Illingworth also officiated in the 2021 and 2023 finals and won ICC Umpire of the Year in 2024.

India’s Nitin Menon (TV umpire) and Javagal Srinath (match referee) will also be part of the officiating team.

Pat Cummins will lead Australia as they defend their title against Temba Bavuma’s South Africa on June 11 at Lord’s.
