Pan Am Individual Championships 2025 Peru: Olympians headline the field
Both men’s and women’s tournaments are spearheaded by Olympians, with Canada’s Brian Yang and Michelle Li entering the competition as the highest ranked players in each bracket.
Yang will be aiming for a third men’s singles title, however there are other Olympians who will serve as a roadblock to his path to glory. Brazil’a Ygor Coelho, El Salvador’s Uriel Canjura and Guatemala’s Kevin Cordon- all will pose as challengers to the Canadian.
Li will seek redemption in the women’s singles after she lost the title last year in Guatemala City to American Beiwen Zhang who is not featuring in this tournament. Brazil’s Juliana Viana Vieira and Peru’s Inés Lucía Castillo are going to pose a threat to Li in her objective.
In the team event that was held from February 13 to 16, team Canada clinched the gold medal, Team USA settled for silver and Team Brazil rounded off the podium with the bronze.
