Para Shuttler Krishna Nagar’s Resilience Shines in 2023

Krishna Nagar’s journey through 2023 reflects resilience and triumph in the face of challenges, with gold medals and an Asian Para Games silver marking year for the Para shuttler.

India’s Para shuttler Krishna Nagar navigated through the twists and turns of 2023, transforming challenges into triumphs. The year began with injury setbacks and early exits, but Nagar’s resilience shone through, culminating in gold medal victories in BWF Level-1 events and a silver in the Asian Para Games.

“After facing rough months with injuries and minimal training, I found my rhythm in Thailand in May 2023. The latter part of the year witnessed improved focus, rigorous training, and unwavering determination. I aim to conclude the year on a high note in Dubai,” expressed Nagar following his recent victory at the 5th Fazza Dubai Para-Badminton International 2023.

The 24-year-old Para shuttler emphasized the significance of his silver at the Asian Para Games, a major confidence boost alongside gold wins in Canada and England this year. Nagar acknowledged the fierce competition in the SH6 category, where the top 10 world-ranked players showcase diverse skills and strategies.

“One must give his best in every game – you cannot take any game lightly. The level of competition is very high in every championship,” he emphasized.

Nagar identified Hong Kong’s top seed Chu Man Kai as a formidable opponent in the men’s singles SH6 event, highlighting Kai’s reliance on rallies and the need for patience to overcome his game.

Looking ahead, Nagar aims to defend his title in Paris, aspiring to engage in challenging competitions, long rallies, and minimizing errors.

In parallel, England’s third seed Jack Shephard, fueled by two gold medals at the European Championships, aims to conclude the year on a high note. Shephard, who secured a victory against China’s Lin Naili, envisions two gold medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, showcasing ongoing dedication and improvement.

The round-robin matches at the 5th Fazza Dubai Para-Badminton International 2023 continue, with knockout matches scheduled to commence on Thursday.
