In a thrilling culmination to the World Tennis League, the Punit Balan Group Eagles, spearheaded by US Open Champion Daniil Medvedev and Australian Open quarterfinalist Andrey Rublev, emerged victorious in the finals held at the Etihad Arena, UAE. The PBG Eagles secured the coveted title by defeating Team Kites with a scoreline of 29-26, sealing their triumph and the winning purse.
The Punit Balan Group showcased an impeccable display of tennis prowess, rebounding from an initial setback in the opening mixed doubles tie. The Medvedev-Andreeva pair faced a tough challenge but fought valiantly, eventually succumbing to Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas in a tie-breaker. Undeterred, the PBG Eagles staged a remarkable comeback, securing victories in women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and women’s singles.
Andreeva and Sofia Kenin exhibited stellar teamwork, defeating Badosa and Aryna Sabalenka with a hard-fought 7-5 win in the women’s doubles category. Medvedev and Rublev demonstrated their dominance in a straightforward 6–3 victory against Grigor Dimitrov and Lloyd Harris in the men’s doubles, contributing significantly to the team’s success.

Reflecting on the victory, Daniil Medvedev expressed his satisfaction, stating, “It was the first World Tennis League for me and begins straight with the victory. So, I am happy about it, happy for the team, and happy that I managed to bring some points.”
Andrey Rublev echoed the sentiments, acknowledging the incredible experience of having tennis greats on the PBG Eagles’ roster. The duo’s formidable performance played a pivotal role in securing the championship for the team.

Despite Grigor Dimitrov’s win in the men’s singles match, PBG Eagles maintained a comfortable point cushion, ultimately claiming the World Tennis League title with a final score of 29-26.
