Before the start of the fourth and final Test match in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the Team India players in singing the national anthem. The match is being held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where both Prime Ministers are in attendance to witness the first session. Prior to the start of the match, both PM Modi and Australian PM Anthony Albanese took part in singing their respective national anthems.

At a ceremony held in the prime minister’s home state of Gujarat, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah presented PM Modi with a memento. During the ceremony, PM Modi presented a special cap to Team India captain Rohit Sharma, while Australian PM Anthony Albanese presented a cap to Australia captain Steve Smith. The presence of both prime ministers at the fourth Test match at the Narendra Modi Stadium is part of the celebration of 75 years of friendship between India and Australia through cricket.

In terms of the match, Australia’s stand-in captain Steve Smith won the toss and chose to bat first. Team India made a single change to their playing XI, with captain Rohit Sharma selecting Mohammed Shami in place of Mohammad Siraj.

The playing XIs for the India vs Australia fourth and final Test match are as follows:

India: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, KS Bharat (wk), R Ashwin, Axar Patel, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami.

Australia: Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith (captain), Peter Handscomb, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wk), Mitchell Starc, Todd Murphy, Nathan Lyon, Matthew Kuhnemann.
