PM’s XI Fixture Against Pakistan to Showcase Australia’s Test Hopefuls

Australia’s Prime Minister’s XI squad, featuring Test prospects, prepares to face Pakistan. Nathan McSweeney to captain the side in a crucial match ahead of the subcontinent series.

Australia’s Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, along with the National Selection Panel (NSP), unveiled the men’s squad for the upcoming Prime Minister’s XI match against Pakistan in Canberra.

Nathan McSweeney has been entrusted with the captaincy of a formidable squad, boasting six players with Test experience. Among these, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Todd Murphy, Jimmy Peirson, and Matthew Renshaw were part of Australia’s Test contingent during the recent Ashes campaign in England.

Noteworthy performers from the Marsh Sheffield Shield – Cameron Bancroft (505 runs), Beau Webster (487), and McSweeney himself (456) – make a compelling case for inclusion. Additionally, Mark Steketee and Michael Neser, who combined for 78 wickets last season, bolster the squad’s bowling strength.

The PM’s XI clash serves as a crucial warm-up for the Pakistani visitors ahead of their upcoming three-match series starting in Perth on December 14. Simultaneously, it presents a final opportunity for several Australian Test aspirants to impress selectors.
