It is the 23rd event in the BWF tour this season and also part of the Macau Open championships, which had been held since 2006. This tournament is organized by the Badminton Federation of Macau and sanctioned by the BWF.

The men’s singles main draw has conspicuous absence of the top 17 ranked players. Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu will headline the roster. He had lost in the opening round of the China Open a few days back. In the last Macau Open edition in 2029, Yiu had lost in the first round.
In the women’s singles main draw, the top 13 ranked players will not be competing in the event. The top three seeds are Thai led by Busanan Ongbamrungphan as she will be joined by Pornpawee Chochuwong and Ratchanok Intanon. Ninth seed Malvika Bansod will not compete in the event as Anupama Upadhyaya will be the top seed for India.
BWF Macau Open 2024: Dates and Venue
The Macau Open 2024 will take place from September 24 to 29 and matches will be held at Macau East Asian Games Dome.
The main draw for men’s singles, doubles, women’s singles and doubles will be confirmed once the qualifiers get over on September 24. Mixed doubles main draw matches will start from September 24.

Prize Money
The total prize money for Macau Open 2024 is $210,000. The Singles winners will receive $15,750 while the runner-up will walk away with $7,980. The semi-finalists will take home $3,045, whereas the quarter-finalists will receive $1,260. Shuttles reaching the last-16 round will be rewarded $735.
In the doubles event, the winners will take away $16,590 and $7,980 will be handed to the finalists. While the semi-finalists will receive $2,940, the quarter-finalists will be rewarded $1,522.50. Players making it to the $787.50 last-16 round will walk away with $787.50.
