Kane Williamson’s Setback in PSL 2025 Draft

The PSL 2025 Draft took place in Lahore on January 13, with 10 players selected from the Platinum category. However, Kane Williamson did not receive any bids.

Currently, Kane Williamson is playing for Durban’s Super Giants in the SA20 2025, where he began the season with an impressive 60* off 40 balls. Despite his strong performance, it wasn’t enough to convince the Pakistan Super League franchise owners to pick him at the auction.

Player Picks in the PSL 2025 Draft: A Breakdown

Kane Williamson, known for his technical skill in Tests and ODIs, has often faced criticism for his approach and lower strike rate in T20 cricket. His difficulties in adapting to the aggressive style required in franchise leagues may have contributed to his lack of appeal in such competitions.

In the second round of the PSL 2025 Draft, Faheem Ashraf and Abbas Afridi from Pakistan, along with New Zealand’s Adam Milne and Finn Allen, were selected in the Platinum Category. Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings used their wildcard picks for Faheem Ashraf and Abbas Afridi, respectively.
