The PSL ownership landscape saw significant continuity when the Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings, and Islamabad United all confirmed franchise rights renewal for the coming decade. These announcements followed earlier confirmations from the Lahore Qalandars and the Peshawar Zalmi, meaning that all five original PSL franchises have long-term agreements in place now with the PCB.

However, Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen announced that he wouldn’t be extending his ownership, leaving a gap at a very crucial time before the next season of PSL.

Karachi Kings have been the Franchise to earn the highest value during the launch of the Pakistan League back in 2016; however, they have also had the lowest percentage increase in their value during that period.

2016 valuation: PKR 440 million (approx. US$1.57m)

Recent valuation: PKR 790 million (approx. US$2.8m)

Under the continued PSL ownership rules, existing owners will have to pay the previous fee, plus 25% of the updated valuation. This means the Kings franchise fee is close to PKR 640 million (approx. US$2.3m) a year. At present, their market value is below Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans, and only slightly above Quetta Gladiators.

Owner Salman Iqbal is proud to reaffirm the team’s dedication to Pakistan Cricket, adding that this renewal of dedication reinforces their vision for the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Quetta Gladiators Have the Lowest Valuation but Maximum Growth

Of all the original franchises, Quetta Gladiators had the lowest valuation, but they had the highest percentage increase in growth.

2016 fee: PKR 187 million (approx. US$660,000)

Current valuation: PKR 690 million (approx. US$2.45m)

Quetta’s annual fee under the renovated ownership structure of PSL is expected to be around PKR 360 million, approximately US$1.28m.

Islamabad United: Strong Market Performance

The valuation of Islamabad United has surpassed that of the Karachi Kings.

2016 valuation: PKR 255 million (approx. US$910,000)

Present valuation: PKR 860 million (approx. US$3.06m)

Under the terms of the league’s renewal requirements, owner Ali Naqvi will now pay an annual fee of around PKR 470 million (approximately US$1.67m).

Upcoming Expansion Of PSL Ownership: Two New Teams Ahead of PSL 2026

With two new teams joining the roster, and the PSL slotted between March and May 2026, the PCB needs to firm up the ownership of three teams before the draft for the 11th edition. This also comes at a time when the Multan Sultans’ previous ownership has stepped away. This addition becomes a significant phase of expansion as the league starts preparing for a bigger, more competitive format.
