Following this, an FIR was filed against the Royal Challengers Bangaluru. Two officials from the Karnataka Cricket Association have resigned, and one person has been arrested in connection with the incident. The RCB team is now caught in the middle of this controversy. According to the latest updates, the BCCI may take serious action against the Bengaluru-based franchise due to the seriousness of the situation, potentially making a major decision regarding RCB’s participation in IPL 2026.

Two KSCA officials, Secretary A Shankar and Treasurer ES Jairam, resigned on Saturday due to growing public and political pressure. Families of the victims have approached the court, demanding action and compensation.

BCCI To Ban RCB For One Year?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stated that the victory parade was organised by the RCB franchise and not by the board itself. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia called it “an unfortunate incident.” Speaking to Cricbuzz, he said, “At some stage BCCI will have to do something. We cannot be a silent spectator.” He added, “It was a private affair of RCB, but we at the BCCI are responsible for cricket in India, and we will try to ensure such incidents do not recur in future.”

The IPL is BCCI’s biggest asset, and this incident has put the board in a tough spot. Many are demanding action, but taking strict steps against a team could lead to serious legal and financial issues.

There is talk on social media about RCB possibly being banned from IPL 2026. This wouldn’t be the first time that a team has been suspended by the BCCI. In 2015, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were suspended for spot-fixing.

This case involves loss of lives, and any action will depend on the Karnataka government’s investigation. If serious negligence is found, BCCI may be pressured to act. So far, BCCI hasn’t made any official statement. The next steps will depend on the investigation’s outcome.
