Real Madrid beat Granada 4-1 at their home Los Carmenes in La Liga

Atletico Madrid gets pressure from Real Madrid now as they are only 2 points behind.

Real Madrid thrashed Granda 4-1 at their home Los Carmenes in La Liga on Thursday evening. La Fabrica product Miguel Gutierrez provided a wonderful assist to the veteran Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, who concluded successfully the pass into a goal, to get visiting noses in front.

Los Blancos maintained the pressure on Atletico Madrid by winning 4-1 at Granada to get crucial three points to their title challenge. Brazilian striker  Rodrygo added a second two minutes into stoppage time at the end of the first half, but later Jorge Molina pulled one back in the 71st minute for Granada. Alvaro Odriozola quickly responded and gave third, however, to restore Madrid’s two-goal advantage, soon accompanied by Karim Benzema, who added the fourth for the Los Blancos. Benzema 13 goals in 15 games against Granada. The ratio against Granada was already better so it continues.

Modric had a glittering game. He was also the man of the match. He commanded the midfield and ran circles throughout Granada. His movement and superb finish to meet Gutierrez’s pass set the tone for Real Madrid. He had 122 touches, no one in the match had more, and he created three chances for his teammates, per Whoscored.com.

“The whole team did very well. We deserved the victory. Miguel played because neither Ferland nor Marcelo were there and he did great. I’m happy for him. He’s a Madrid player. [Marcelo] had an annoyance and we didn’t want to risk it. There’s nothing else. Zidane: “It’s not just about the goals. We played really well. We were good in defence. We started the game well, and played a complete match. At 1-2 we didn’t lower the intensity and we scored soon after. This shows the team’s character.””

Zinedine Zidane said post-match confernce.
