Real Sociedad has been dealt a significant blow as their Portuguese international striker, Andre Silva, has suffered a muscle injury, likely sidelining him until the upcoming international break in November.
During Monday’s training session, Silva had to halt his participation due to discomfort in his right calf muscle. The club officially confirmed this setback in a statement issued on Tuesday, as reported by Xinhua.
Real Sociedad stated, “Andre Silva has sustained an injury to his soleus muscle in his right leg, which occurred during yesterday’s training session. He has initiated physiotherapy, and his return to activity will be gradual, contingent on the nature of the injury and its progress.”

This injury presents a challenge for both the club and the striker. Silva had joined Real Sociedad on loan from RB Leipzig at the end of the transfer window, aiming to fill the void left by Alexander Sorloth, who moved to Villarreal after enjoying two successful seasons with Real Sociedad.
Although Silva had carried a pre-existing injury that limited his playing time to the club’s last two matches before the international break, he had resumed training without any issues. He was expected to be part of the squad for the upcoming match against Mallorca.
Real Sociedad faces a congested fixture list in the weeks ahead, including a crucial Champions League clash against Benfica and a home game against FC Barcelona on November 4. Silva’s absence places constraints on coach Imanol Alguacil’s ability to rotate the squad and provide rest to players during this demanding period.
