Ruturaj Gaikwad has been picked in the India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka. He takes the place of Riyan Parag, who has been ruled out with hamstring injury. The announcement was made by the BCCI on Sunday, May 31.

Gaikwad will also become the vice-captain of the side, a role which was initially given to Parag.

What happened with Riyan Parag?

Parag had been struggling with a hamstring issue for a while. He was carrying it through his IPL 2026 campaign with Rajasthan Royals where he was the captain and finished the side in Qualifier 2. He missed a couple of games this season with the same problem.

Instead of going to Sri Lanka, he will now go to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for rehabilitation.
