After suffering an ODI series loss against Pakistan, the road for the Proteas doesn’t look smooth ahead. Pakistan and South Africa are scheduled for a 4 match, T20I series, and just a day before the start of the series, a piece of bad news has arrived for South Africa.

South African Skipper and  Middle-order batsman, Temba Bavuma has suffered a GRADE-1 Hamstring strain and has been ruled out of contention for the T20 Series.

The South African’s unavailability is a cause of concern for the team which already has lost the ODI series. Temba, 30, averages 49.77 and 32.24 and has scored, 448 and 2097 runs in ODI and Test respectively.

The absence of Bavuma hollows the Proteas Middle order and tends to give Pakistan an advantage, even before the start of the series. In his absence, Henrich Klassen will lead the side, as announced by ESPNCricInfo.

Alongside Bavuma, Dwaine Pretorius and Reeza Hendricks are also unavailable for South African selection due to injury.

The 4 Match T20 series starts on the 10th Of April, with the first two games (On 10th and 12th) to be played in Johannesburg’s Wanderers Stadium and the last two (on 14th and 16th) at SuperSport Park at the Centurion.
