In a dominating effort in Colombo, South Africa Women recovered from a top-order early collapse to beat Pakistan Women by four wickets in a much-needed SA vs PAK warm-up game before the Women’s World Cup 2025.
Bosch and Luus Steady South Africa’s 230-Run Chase
Pursuing a total of 230, South Africa struggled to 27 for 3 in the first six overs under early pressure from Pakistan’s new-ball bowlers. But Bosch and Sune Luus then restored the innings with a solid 118-run fourth-wicket partnership.
Both batters reached half-centuries. Bosch made 58 and Luus 54 before getting out to allow others the opportunity in the practice scenario. Their combination created the platform for a successful pursuit, which South Africa achieved in 40.1 overs.
Tryon Completes the Task After Slight Stumble
Once the set batsmen departed, South Africa had a small middle-order blip, but Chloe Tryon struck a match-winning 45 off 39*, guiding her team towards a fluent victory with almost 10 overs left to spare.
Pakistan’s Bowling Effort Led by Diana Baig
From the Pakistani Women’s bowling cadre, Diana Baig was notable with 2 for 32, but kept the pressure on throughout the powerplay. The failure of regular breakthroughs, though, meant South Africa were in charge most of the innings. Pakistan were able to take six wickets, but could not defend the score.
Pakistan’s Innings: Fatima Sana Takes Total to 229
Earlier in the day, Pakistan Women were bowled out for 229 in 45.6 overs. The innings was stabilised by captain Fatima Sana, who scored a top 64 at No. 7, saving her team from a dangerous spot.
Though the middle order registered some resistance, consistent strikes from South Africa’s bowlers especially Masabata Klaas (2 for 26) and Ayabonga Khaka (2 for 40) prevented Pakistan from a big score.
