Sagar Rathee is set to return to the Tamil Thalaivas squad with the match against Jaipur Pink Panthers in the fag end of the Jaipur leg of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12). The defender had missed seven matches so far this season, owing to an injury.
Rathee played only the third third match against Gujarat Giants where picked up a tackle point. However, as he was not fully fit, he was rested by the management until he was in his best shape. Now, he will be available to play against host Jaipur on Saturday at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium.
Sagar Rathee Back In The House
Tamil Thalaivas are set to get a boost from Rathee’s return as they have been having an underwhelming season. They are placed ninth in the points table currently from eight matches. They have so far registered three wins and five losses with a score difference of -26 thus far.
The franchise was already riled up in a controversy after it “sent home” their star player Pawan Sehrawat citing disciplinary action just ahead of the Jaipur leg. He will not be playing for the remainder of the season. However, his absence was felt as Thalaivas suffered three consecutive defeats most recently.
Rathee’s might help fill the void left by Sehrawat and bring the team back to the winning ways. As the PKL 12 action moves to Chennai after the Jaipur leg, the team will look to resume their campaign with a renewed vigour.
Hosts Tamil Thalaivas will play the first match of their Chennai leg against U Mumba on Wednesday, October 1. Ahead of the Chennai Leg, the return of Rathee to the squad comes as a big relief.
