Former Indian tennis player Sania Mirza recently shared a powerful message on social media. She praised two women officers for their leadership and courage during the media briefing about India’s “Operation Sindoor”. Two women officers, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, were part of the joint operation by the Indian Army and Air Force, which targeted nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Purpose of Operation Sindoor
After the Operation Sindoor (Strike) at Pakistan-based Terrorist camps by India, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri explained that Operation Sindoor was a “measured and appropriate” response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025. The attack was planned by Pakistan’s terrorists Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen, who killed 26 civilians in Pahalgam. Colonel Sofiya Qureshi said that the operation aimed to destroy the terrorist infrastructure (including recruitment centers and launch pads) that Pakistan had built over the past three decades.
What Happened During India’s Attack on Pakistan’s Terrorist Camps?
Operation Sindoor involved air-launched and ground-launched missiles, which targeted 9 major terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. These included areas like Muzaffarabad, Bahawalpur, Rawalakot and Bhimber. These sites had been known for houses of terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). Over 70 terrorists were killed and more than 60 were injured. This operation shows the strength and decisiveness of India in fighting terrorism.
