SLK vs STKNP: St Lucia Kings Post 200 Competitive

SLK posted 200/8 after being inserted to bat, courtesy of outstanding performances by their top and middle order. Johnson Charles and Roston Chase steadied the ship after a rocky start at 21/2. The duo contributed 50 runs off 26 balls for the third wicket. Chase hammered 61 off 38 deliveries, including a burst of boundaries off Dominic Drakes.

Tim David gave the late fireworks with 46 off just 23 deliveries, including three towering sixes off Jason Holder in one over. SLK’s momentum was derailed in the last phase with only 21 runs scored in the last three overs.

Patriots’ Chase Falters Despite Jason Holder’s Scintillating 63

Pursuing 201, STKNP made a good beginning with Andre Fletcher and Kyle Mayers adding 43 in 4.2 overs. SLK’s bowlers, however, came back strongly:

David Wiese dismissed Mayers and started a collapse. Khary Pierre sent back both Fletcher and Mikyle Louis in quick succession. 66/4 after nine overs, Patriots’ chances of winning declined to 5.32% alone, as per forecaster.

That’s when Jason Holder took charge, blasting a quick-fire 63 from 29 deliveries. His innings consisted of:

4, 6, 6 off an over from Tabraiz Shamsi

A 23-ball half-century, punctuated by his fifth six

A 77-run stand with Navin Bidaisee, though Bidaisee only added 9 from his initial 11 balls

Roston Chase Makes Most of Both Ends Meet – Player of the Match

Roston Chase proved to be the match-winner for SLK with a brilliant all-round display:

Batting: 61 off 38 balls, steadying the innings after early wickets

Bowling: 2/27 in four overs, including the crucial dismissal of Rilee Rossouw

He also dropped a tough return catch off Rossouw, but quickly made amends by removing him in his next over.

Final Over Drama: Bidaisee Falls Short in Last-Ball Finish

Following Holder’s dismissal, the task was assumed by Navin Bidaisee in smashing a 35-ball 50 with sixes in four successive overs. Requiring four runs for the last over, drama emerged:

David Wiese bowled a slot ball. Bidaisee was looking for a big finish but could manage only Tim David at long-off, securing a 3-run victory for SLK.
