The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is about to begin in just two days, and Steve Smith has apparently given the Nagpur a thorough inspection and gave his assessment. According to Smith, who will be captaining Australia’s batting unit during the next tour, the first test will be played on a slow pitch. The first test will be contested in Nagpur at the VCA stadium on February 9, and the series will start on that day.
Steve Smith gives a pitch report for the first Test between India and Australia
Smith shared his thoughts on what the Border-Gavaskar trophy meant for Australia prior to the commencement of the series. “It’s challenging to triumph there, let alone in a test series. You see, it would be really significant if we were able to bring that mountain down. I believe that an India victory would be more significant than an Ashes series.” said Steve Smith.
Test Record of Steve Smith
Starting out as a leg-spinner, Steve Smith made his Test debut in 2010. However, because he is now regarded as the Test GOAT, his position in the game has significantly shifted. The right-handed atypical batsman has played in 92 games and amassed a total of 8747 runs with a batting average of 60.89. He has amassed 37 fifties and 30 centuries in the process.
Smith’s continued dominance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is all but guaranteed, and he will be the biggest obstacle to India winning back the cherished trophy. Given that India has won the last three of these types of series and that this one is scheduled to take place in the Sub-Continent, it would be extremely difficult for the Australian Team to put pressure on India.
