Steve Smith will miss the final Sri Lanka T20Is but is likely to be healthy for the Pakistan visit

Smith, who has a history of concussions, smacked his head hard on the SCG grass in an ambitious leaping try to stop a six near the boundary rope in Australia’s Super Over victory over Sri Lanka in the second T20I on Sunday. The top right-handed hitter has already been ruled out of the last three T20I matches against Sri Lanka. Senior Australia batter Steve Smith is likely to recover fully from his latest concussion incident within a week and be fit for the tour of Pakistan next month.

When Smith collapsed at the boundary line following his remarkable but unsuccessful fielding effort, Pat Cummins and Glenn Maxwell quickly motioned for medical aid. Smith was quickly up on his feet and inquired as to whether the umpires had called a six or not. “Thank you to everyone who has contacted me. My head has felt better, but I’ll be OK “Smith subsequently tweeted about it. Smith has been concussed before, but this is not the first time. It was his third concussion in the last two and a half years. He was memorably substituted out of an Ashes Test against England at Lord’s in 2019 after being bowled out by a Jofra Archer ball. Smith was also forced to miss a white ball series in England in 2020 after getting hit while batting in the Old Trafford practice nets.
