IPL 2025: Suryakumar Yadav Matches Temba Bavuma’s World Record in T20 Cricket

34-year-old Mumbai Indians (MI) star batsman Suryakumar Yadav made history with his consistent performances in IPL 2025.

Suryakumar Yadav Makes History in IPL 2025

On Wednesday, May 21, he also equaled a T20 world record held by South African captain Temba Bavuma.

India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has been in top form during the IPL 2025 season. He has scored runs in almost every match and played a big role in the Mumbai Indians’ strong comeback.

Suryakumar has regularly scored 25 or more runs in games for MI. A few weeks ago, he broke Robin Uthappa’s record of 10 consecutive IPL innings with 25+ runs.

Now, he has taken it further by matching South African captain Temba Bavuma’s record of 13 consecutive 25+ scores in men’s T20 cricket, set in 2019-20. Suryakumar has also equalled the record held by Kane Williamson and Shubman Gill for the most 25+ scores in a single IPL season.

Suryakumar Yadav played an impressive innings against Delhi Capitals, scoring 73* runs off 43 balls, including 7 fours and 4 sixes. So far this season, he has scored 29 (26), 48 (28), 27* (9), 67 (43), 28 (26), 40 (28), 26 (15), 68* (30), 40* (19), 54 (28), 48* (23), 35 (24), and 73* (43).

Former India cricketers Irfan Pathan, WV Raman, and Mohammad Kaif were highly impressed with Suryakumar’s performance and shared their praise on X.
