Line-up for Scotland vs Papua New Guinea

Scotland won the toss & chose to bat.

A last-minute fightback by Papua New Guinea went in vain as the Scottish won by 17 Runs

1st Innings – Scotland posted 165/9 on board

Scotland lost both openers in the powerplay as they were 26/2 within 4 overs.

Meanwhile, the Papua New Guinea players were fielding well in the early overs until the partnership between Matthew Cross and Richie Berrington added 92 Runs for the 3rd Wicket as both of them lifted up their team.

There was a breakthrough for the PNG team, as Matthew Cross got out for 45 with Simon Atai taking his wicket.

However, Scotland’s Richie Berrington stayed strong. He made his half-century with him finishing at 70 runs (off 49 deliveries) before getting out.

After that, Scotland just added a few more runs in the end as the last over saw 4 Wickets – a run out & three wickets for Kabua Morea. As a result, they made 165/9.

2nd Innings – Papua New Guinea needs 166 Runs to win

It was a competitive total but it was not the right start for Papua New Guinea – as they lost 5 wickets in the powerplay overs as they were 35/5.

However, Norman Vanua who came to bat at 7th for the team gave hope to PNG. He was in fine fettle during his stay on the crease. He, along with Kiplin Doriga made a partnership of 53 Runs.

The Scottish bowler Josh Davey picked his 3rd wicket as he dismissed the man in form – Norman Vanua as he got caught behind. Norman Vanua scored 47. Thus, with his dismissal, all ways seemed difficult for Papua New Guinea to win the match.

Papua New Guinea finished their innings with all their batsmen being dismissed at 148. As a result, Scotland won by 17 runs. The Player of the Match was given to Richie Berrington for his knock of 70 Runs off 49 balls.
