In the recent T20 World Cup preparations, it is to be noted that MS Dhoni is announced as team mentor. This will also be Virat Kohli’s last T20 Captaincy. As a result, he will look to strongly end his captaincy in the T20 format on a high. Amidst this, Virender Sehwag is delighted. He believes many people wanted Mahendra Singh Dhoni to return to the Indian side. Having him roped in as mentor is the best thing that could have happened. Virender Sehwag adds, “I am very happy that MS accepted the offer to be the Team Mentor for the T20 World Cup.”
Sehwag has played alongside Dhoni and feels that the mentorship is going to be interesting. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has a character to understand a bowlers’ psyche in limited-overs format. He also feels that Mahi will be able to guide the new and introvert young players in the squad. Firstly, Dhoni’s contribution as wicketkeeper is phenomenal. Secondly, he has an understanding on field placements. As a result, the bowling unit can learn and understand from him well.
It will be interesting to see how MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli will be mentor and captaining the team. Best of luck to all the players first for the IPL and then for the T20 World Cup.
