5 Teams With Most Wins In Premier League

The Premier League is one of the elite football leagues in the world housing some of the world’s top teams and best players. Founded in the late 1880s as the Football League, the English top flight has produced thousands of thrilling encounters. 

Various clubs have firmly held their positions in the First Division, churning out one win after the other. So far, Liverpool is the only team to have won more than 2000 matches in the Premier League.

In this article, let us have a look at five teams with most wins in the Premier League.

Liverpool- 2,066

Liverpool has registered 2,066 wins so far in the Premier League having spent  109 seasons within the top flight of English football. They have 19-title wins in their 132-year history. 11 of these titles came between 1972 and 1990, signifying the golden age for the Anfield side. 

In the history of Liverpool, Ian Callaghan made the most appearances for the Reds- 841- a record that still stands. Ian Rush scored most goals for the Anfield side-339 goals in 653 games.

Arsenal-1,999

Arsenal is just a win away from reaching the 2000 mark. With 1999 game wins in the Premier league, the Gunners sit second in the list. The dominance of Arsenal in the English top flight could be gauged from the fact that they have been relegated from the First Division only once, in 1913. 

The North London side have won 13 titles and achieved a magnanimous feat of remaining  unbeaten the entire 2003/04 season,  since Preston North End in the 19th century. David O’Leary, who spent 18 years at Arsenal, made the most appearances for the club- 722 Thierry Henry is the club’s top scorer with 98 goals.

Manchester United- 1,909

Manchester United has the most number of Premier League titles to their name at 20. In the English top flight history, United have recorded 1,909 wins with the Red Devils enjoying enormous success under Sir Alex Ferguson’s 27 years stint. Ryan Giggs made the most appearances for the club  at 952. Wayne Rooney is the top scorer for the Old Trafford side with 253 goals.

 

Everton- 1,901

Everton has won 1,901 games ever since the foundation of the Football League in 1888 and the Premier League in 1992. The Toffees have 1,901 wins in league and played more than any other side  in the 20th century. 

The Goodison Park side won the title nine times in their history that began in 1878. Neville Southall earned most caps for Everton- 674. Graeme Sharp scored 412 goals for the club, the most for Everton.

Aston Villa- 1,724

Aston Villa have registered 1,724 wins in the Premier League so far. They have seven top flight titles and their last crown came in the 1980-81 season. Johnny Dixon is the top scorer for Aston Villa with 104 goals, while Gordan Cowans has the most appearances with 508 appearances.
