Thailand Open International Boxing: Indian Pugilists Advance To Semis

Indian boxers continued their strong performance at the 4th Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament which is ongoing in capital city Bangkok. Tamanna, Priya, and Deepak advanced to the semi-finals of their respective categories on Wednesday.

In the women’s 51 kg category, Tamanna displayed a matured performance to beat Liu Yu-Shan of Chinese Taipei by unanimous decision.

Priya followed it up with a confident 5-0 win over South Korea’s Park Ah-hyun in the women’s 57 kg category, dominating the bout right from the outset.

In the men’s competition, Deepak defeated South Korea’s Kim Hyeon-tae in 75 kg, also by a unanimous verdict.

Earlier, National silver medalists Sanju and Anshul Gill  also sealed convincing wins to progress into the semifinals. In the men’s 90+ kg division, Gill delivered a strong performance against Kazakhstan’s Daniyal Saparbay,  winning by unanimous decision. Competing in the women’s 60 kg category, Sanju had a clean 5-0 verdict over Indonesia’s Reka Mariana Kasibulan.

Note: No boxer has been named in the women’s 60–65kg category for this edition.
The new edition of the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament is underway in Bangkok from May 24 and June 1 in 2025, held under the banner of World Boxing-backed Asian Boxing. .

The Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament is traditionally one of the strongest Asian international events where the top boxing nations such as Cuba, Russia, China, India, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Italy, South Korea, Iran, DPR Korea, Thailand, Japan, Philippines, Spain, Croatia, Australia, New Zealand and Mongolia all attended in the recent years.

Boxers who were born between 1985 and 2006 were be eligible to participate in the female and male weight categories in Bangkok.
