The two teams give their everything to win the coveted trophy. Here is a look at some instances when the highest runs were scored by teams in the IPL finals.

Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016 (208 runs)

Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016, faced off against Royal Challengers Bangalore and scored 208 runs in the first innings. SRH skipper, David Warner starred with the bat and scored 69 runs in just 38 balls. All-rounder, Ben Cutting provided a great finishing touch to the innings as he scored 39 runs off just 15 balls. The match was held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore where no total is safe. For some time in the second innings, it felt that RCB would chase down the total. In the end, they fell short by 8 runs as they managed to score 200 runs.

Chennai Super Kings in 2011 (205 runs)

In 2011 it was the southern derby at the IPL finals as Chennai Super Kings came head to head against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Chennai Super Kings batting first scored 205 runs thanks to their openers. Murali Vijay played a knock of 95 runs in 52 balls. Michael Hussey scored 63 runs in 45 balls. The match was held at the Chidambaram Stadium where scoring traditionally has been tough. The slow pitch was evident in the second innings as RCB chasing a huge total only managed to score 147 runs.

Mumbai Indians in 2015 (202 runs)

In the IPL 2015 final, Mumbai Indians won their second trophy thanks to their humungous score of 202 runs. The total was set up by opener Lendl Simmons who scored 68 runs in 45 balls. Their skipper, Rohit Sharma who also won the Man of the Match award scored 50 runs in 26 balls coming in at number three for Mumbai Indians. Their opponents, Chennai Super Kings fell short of the total as they managed to score 161 runs in their 20 overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 (200 runs)

Kolkata Knight Riders scored 200 runs in IPL 2014 Final. Their chase of 200 is the highest target chased by any team in an IPL Final. KKR met Kings XI Punjab in the final and conceded 199 in the first innings thanks to a great batting effort from Wriddhiman Saha who became the first player to score a century in an IPL final. Saha scored 115 in 55 balls while opener Manan Vohra scored 67 runs in 52 balls. In reply, KKR’s number three Manish Pandey scored a quickfire 94 off 50 balls before getting out. Yusuf Pathan scored 36 runs in 22 balls. After Manish Pandey’s dismissal, Piyush Chawla entered the field. Chawla after taking 2 wickets in the first innings was not done in the game as he scored 13 runs off just 5 balls to win the game for his side.
