The birds are flying high in the Premier league as 4 teams from the competition have won silverware this term. Different teams have achieved different accolades and one thing can be said for sure that this season is for the underdogs or maybe even the ‘Year Of The Birds”.
Let us look at which teams have won trophies and what are the birds that they symbolise.
Magpie- Newcastle made history as they won the Carabao Cup against Liverpool and defeated the PL champions 2-1 in an electric final.
Newcastle has been great ever since the arrival of Eddi Howe and it looks like they will again be playing the Champions league.
Liver Bird-
Liverpool won the Premier league this season and looked like the favorites out of all in the Champions league as well as they finished 1st in the group phase as well. But Luis Enrique ruined Arne Slot’s perfect first season as the Liverpool manager as it was the only match of the season Liverpool looked like they were struggling.
Eagle- The most anomaly winners among all, Crystal Palace won the FA Cup against Manchester City after a lone goal from Eze and it was the first trophy of the club and what a way to announce themselves in the big boy league. They will be playing the Europa league next season and will be looking forward to add reinforcement in the team as well.
They are flying high under Glasner, who has been a revelation as he has pulled them from the brink of relegation to European competition for next season.
Cockerel- The most recent and the most deserved out of all, Tottenham fans know the wait for a title and the weight of the tag of chokers. Although they have performed underwhelmingly in the Premier league as they will most probably finish 16th but they will be playing in the champions league as they have won the Europa league against Manchester United.
Ange Postecoglou who had earlier remarked that he usually wins in the 2nd season has kept his word and made it into reality.
