At the same time, Tilak Varma is now very close to the top position in the ranking of batsmen. Travis Head is currently at number one, but there is only a gap of 23 points between him and Tilak. There are still two matches left in this series, if he performs well during this time, he can easily reach the top position. During the second T20I, he played a match-winning half-century innings. Apart from this, in November 2024, he also scored 280 runs in four matches against South Africa at an average of 140.

If Tilak gets the top position in T20I, he can become the youngest player to achieve this feat. This record is currently held by Babar Azam (who became number 1 at the age of 23 years and 105 days). Verma currently has 832 rating points, which is the fourth-best score for any Indian batsman. Only Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul have higher ratings than him.

Among other Indian batsmen, Abhishek Sharma has also jumped 59 places to the 40th position, while England’s Liam Livingstone (32nd) and Ben Duckett (68th) have also improved.
