List A cricket is basically One Day cricket which includes both international and domestic matches. Almost every country has a List A domestic competition, for example, India has Vijay Hazare Trophy while England has Royal London One Day Cup. Recently Prithvi Shaw became the first person to score double centuries in two different countries. Shaw also became the first person to score double centuries for two different clubs. Here are the top 10 highest List A scores in cricket history.
Narayan Jagadeesan: 277 runs
Narayan Jagadeesan tops the list for highest scores in List A cricket. Jagadeesan scored 277 runs in just 141 balls on 21st November 2022. The knock came for Tamil Nadu in a game against Arunachal Pradesh in Vijay Hazare Trophy. His knock helped Tamil Nadu to register a score of 506 for the loss of just two wickets. Jagadeesan’s knock included 25 fours and 15 sixes. In reply, Arunachal Pradesh only scored 71 runs handing Tamil Nadu a win by a huge margin of 435 runs.
Ali Brown: 268 runs
Ali Brown, the top-order batter from England scored 268 runs in a game in Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy in 2002. Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy was a cricket tournament in English County Cricket. His knock of 268 runs for Surrey came against Glamorgan in just 160 balls. Brown’s knock included 30 fours and 12 sixes. In a high-scoring game, Surrey scored 438 runs and won by just 9 runs as Glamorgan came close to chasing their mammoth total.
Rohit Sharma: 264 runs
Rohit Sharma holds the record for the highest individual score in ODI cricket. Rohit scored 264 runs in 173 balls and hit 33 fours and 9 sixes. He hit 264 runs in an ODI match against Sri Lanka in Eden Gardens on 13th November 2014. He was dropped when has batting on 4* which led to be one of the most costly drops in cricket history as it resulted in 260 more runs. In reply, Sri Lanka scored 251 runs.
D’Arcy Short: 257 runs
D’Arcy Short is the first Australian to feature on this list. Short scored 257 runs in 148 balls hitting 15 fours and 23 sixes. His double century helped Western Australia reach a total of 387 runs. In reply, Queensland scored 271 runs and lost the game by 116.
Shikhar Dhawan: 248 runs
Shikhar Dhawan scored 248 runs in an India A game against South Africa A. He scored 248 runs in just 150 balls in a knock that consisted of 30 fours and 7 sixes. Dhawan after the match in an interview said, “When I got out in the 44th over it occurred to me that if I had batted till the end I had a chance to score a triple hundred. I am happy with what I scored though.” Even the India A coach at that time, Lalchand Rajput believed that the triple hundred was well within sight.
Prithvi Shaw: 244 runs
The latest knock to feature on this list is Prithvi Shaw’s innings of 244 runs that came in the Royal London One Day Cup on the 9th of August 2023. Shaw scored 244 runs in just 153 balls while hitting 28 fours and 11 sixes. His knock helped Northamptonshire score 415 runs. Somerset in reply, scored 328 runs and lost the game by 87 runs.
Martin Guptill: 237* runs
Martin Guptill has the record for the highest in a Cricket World Cup game. Guptill scored 237* against the West Indies. His knock included 24 fours and 11 sixes and came at a strike rate of 145.39. His knock helped New Zealand reach a total of 393 runs and win the quarterfinal of the Cricket World Cup 2015 by 143 runs.
Travis Head: 230 runs
Travis Head is the first batter who was not opening the innings in the match. Batting at number three, Head scored 230 runs in just 127 balls, hitting 28 fours and 8 sixes. He helped South Australia reach a total of 391 against Queensland in The Marsh Cup.
Ben Dunk: 229* runs
Ben Dunk scored 229* in 157 balls in Matador BBQs One-Day Cup. His knock is the highest score in a losing cause. Tasmania gave a target of 399 runs to Queensland courtesy of Dunk’s knock. In reply, Queensland openers, Usman Khawaja and Chris Hartley scored centuries to set up the base of a 7-wicket victory.
Prithvi Shaw: 227* runs
Prithvi Shaw is the only cricketer to feature on this list for a second time and it is once again Puducherry who faced the brunt of a double-century. Shaw while batting for Mumbai, scored 227* in 152 balls hitting 31 fours and just 5 sixes.
