Top 5 Debutants Of Copa America 2024

Copa America 2024 is underway in the USA with 10 teams from South America and six from North America taking part. The final of the 48th edition of Copa America will be held on July 14 in Florida.

The latest edition of the intercontinental tournament will see news faces who would be marking their debut in the championship.

Here are the five prominent footballers to play their first edition at Copa America 2024:

Rodrygo – Brazil

The Copa America 2024 will be the debut for Brazil’s Rodrygo in the tournament.

The 23 year old Real Madrid sensation has scored 17 goals and nine assists for his Spanish club. He was part of the UEFA Champions League winning team and is definitely someone to watch out for.

Alejandro Garnacho – Argentina

Alejandro Garnacho made his debut in the Copa America Cup tournament. The 19-year-old forward, who plays for Manchester United, scored10 goals and produced five assists for the club in 50 appearances.

Garnacho marked the end of the season on high note by scoring a goal in United’s 1-0 win against Manchester City in the FA Cup final.  

Endrick – Brazil

Brazilian prodigy Endrik will be making his debut in a major international tournament with Copa America 2024.

The striker might be looking to break into a squad that consists of Raphinha, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo.

The 17-year-old striker is set to join Real Madrid next season from Palmeiras. He played 22 matches for Palmeiras this season and scored four goals and gave two assists. The forward has scored two goals in four appearances for his national team already.

Darwin Nunez – Uruguay

Darwin Nunez played for the first time in Copa America. He made a brilliant debut for Uruguay with an excellent volley in their opener in the tournament, beating Panama 3-1.

The 24-year-old appeared to make strides of progress in the 2023-24 season playing for Liverpool as he returned 18 goals and 13 assists in all competitions. He can be an absolute threat to the opponents with his raw talent.

With eight goals in his last seven caps, Nunez is the leading scorer in South America’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification phase. He achieved a hat-trick in a warm-up win over Mexico this month.

Alphonso Davies – Canada

Alphonso Davies marked his debut in the Copa America playing against giant Argentina. In the Copa America 2024 opener, Canada lost 2-0 against Argentina.

This is the first time that Canada would be contesting in the tournament. Davis, who plays for Bayern Munich, is regarded as one of the best full-backs in the world.
